This little creature, Carolina Anole lizard was commissioned by the London Zoo for the purpose of filling in a window display that was not fit for living creatures anymore in the old reptile House at the ZSL London Zoo.
The piece was initially sculpted and then 3D texture was applied, before we started the 3D prints. We used the SLA printers for this one since we could achieve the best print resolution. And since this was a highly detailed 3D model, it paid off!
We printed the lizard in 8 sections which were eventually joined, filled and an initial prier applied. After that the fun begun! As we had to give it a very sensible paint job. Including many washes, layers of paint and some weathering.
The rock was all 3D printed in our FDM printers in less than 2 days in 8 sections and was then joined filled and given a weathering/dirt wash of paint.
The lizard is just over 600mm long or roughly 3/1 scale and the rock nearly a meter long/wide.
